Epidurals

Epidurals are one of the most common procedures that are performed by Pain Management specialists. They are performed to relieve neck and low back pain (as well as “Sciatica”, or pain plus numbness in the legs or arms) that is caused by “herniated or slipped” discs in the spine, or “arthritis” (Osteoarthritis) of the spine. Epidurals can offer outstanding pain relief. Moreover, our patients at Specialized Pain Management are very pleased that when they do well with these procedures, they can anticipate that they will not need to use as much pain medication. The procedures are performed very comfortably at an outpatient center, under generous sedation plus local anesthesia. In addition, an X-Ray camera (fluoroscopy) is used to precisely visualize each patient’s spinal anatomy during this brief procedure.
